Monte Alto is a sweet coffee, cultivated in SĂtio Monte Alto and Fortaleza, in SĂŁo Gonçalo do SapucaĂ, MG, in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, at 1,350 meters above sea level. Produced by Alessandro Hervaz, it is of the CatuaĂ Amarelo variety and undergoes the natural process. The coffee has an engaging fragrance of milk chocolate and almonds, creating a welcoming sensory experience. In flavor, highlights include milk chocolate, roasted almonds, and a hint of lime, adding freshness to the smooth profile. The acidity is citric and well balanced, with a creamy body that provides a velvety texture. The aftertaste is sweet, extending the pleasure of tasting. With 84 points in the SCA protocol, Monte Alto is an excellent choice for those who appreciate sweet and balanced coffees, with notes that enchant with each sip. The Hervaz family's coffees are already a stamp on the podiums of coffee quality competitions, both regional and national. In 2018, a batch from the family was among the top 10 finalists of the Cup of Excellence, one of the most valued coffee quality competitions in the world. But to get here, producer Alessandro and his family have come a long way. Starting from a dream of his father to return to the rural area, in 1993, Alessandro went to the South of Minas with him and his two brothers to forever change the history of specialty coffee. Although he had not had contact with coffee until then, Alessandro already came from the 3rd generation of the family that, in some way, had already worked with coffee. His father, who already had experience in the old coffee management, started production on the new property. However, Alessandro and his brothers went in search of new deals and technologies to bring new production trends to the farm. Being an "outsider" of coffee made him seek novelties and acquire knowledge to work better the coffee, which made a difference for the production of quality beans. Not only that, Alessandro joined other producers in the region to create an association aiming to open up new opportunities for those working with coffee. It was from there that APAS - the Association of Producers of Alto da Serra - emerged, whose main objective is to gather producers from the region to show the world the quality of the fruits planted there and to gather people who believe that working together goes further. Motivated by the growing market for specialty coffees, Alessandro and his family began investing in coffee quality in 2010. The change in the consumption of quality coffees awakened the family's passion for producing coffees that could stand out in the cup. The reward was much more than financial, the great motivation for continuing the work is, above all, the recognition of the consumer who is surprised by the drink of the grains produced by the hands of the Hervaz family. And that closes everything. Feeling of accomplishment, with pride in being a rural producer, coffee changed the life of the family, bringing more dignity and passion to the profession for Alessandro and his family.
